DIY: Chunky Red Necklace

Since I realized that my jewelry collection needed some color, I embarked on the task of making a chunky necklace out of small glass beads. It took a couple of days for me to make because it was a bit tedious to string the beads, but I think the end result was worth it!

What you'll need:
Small glass beads (Michael's)
thin non-stretch string
scissors
a bit of chain
2 clamp beads
snap closures

DIRECTIONS:
1. String your beads making as many strands as you see fit. Make sure to leave a bit of rooms for
tying knots at the end.
2. Gather them and take a clamp bead string them through and clamp.
Repeat for the other side.
3. Take the bit of your chain and tie it one end (This will allow you to adjust the length of
necklace whenever you like). Then tie on the snap closure on the other end.

VOILA!!
It adds a bit of funkiness to any outfit don't you think?

Red Velvet Cheesecake

F21 lace top, Urban Outfitters shorts, Vintage Colin Stuart heels, Ebay Bag, DIY necklaceHERE, Cartier inspired LOVE bracelet

Some of you may have noticed that my blog posts have been getting quite simple (i.e. outfit pics have been narrowed down to one). While I know this ends up making for a boring post, I have realized that there isn't a need for much more in order to share my outfit. Plus, the process of my picture being taken really refuses to be anything but unnatural. Anybody who knows me could vouch for this.

On that note, I take inspiration from the Satorialist and Miroslava Duma's blog Buro 24/7. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE a number of personal fashion blogs that offer an array of exquisite pictures and setting as much as the next person! But I feel that there is something to be said about what Schuman and Duma both are able to do with a single picture when it comes to fashion. Don't you think so?

On another note, this is what I wore to date night with the boyfriend yesterday. It's nice to be able to get all dressed up for each other and enjoy a nice meal with each other every now and again. We had the most amazing Red Velvet Cheesecake!

Look Look!

Holy gum drops and all that's nice look what finally came in the mail today!! I have been lusting over the Cartier LOVE bracelet for some time now and while I could never afford the real thing I was able to find a pretty good replica on Ebay. You can bet your vegetables I'll be wearing this forever!! Oooooh yes!

Not bad huh?

DIY: Pin Curls

Like clockwork, every summer, I cut my hair short and two or so months later I regret it. lol. This reminded me of a post I wanted to do a while back when I had long hair but didn't get around to it. So here is a super quick and simple way to do curls without having to use a curling iron. This was inspired by my mom who use to do pin curls when she was younger.

Materials: comb, handful of hair pins, hair-dryer (optional), and hairspray

Directions:
NOTE: This should be done on hair that is semi-damp hair.
1. Depending on how thick you want the curls, take a section of your curls and twist till it starts to twist on its own and pin down.
2. Repeat till all of your hair is all in pin curls. (Wait till your hair is dry, or running a blow-dryer over it for speedy results).
3. Run your fingers through your hair to part the curls.

4. Style it!

Easy as Pie in the eye. :D

What I wore to church this past sunday. So in love with this vintage top I'm wearing. It reminds me of a Missoni print. No? Hope you are all keeping cool. Forecast says it's going to be killer for SoCal.

DIY: Tie-Dyed Nails

In my quest for some fun-looking nails with the colors already at hand, I developed my own version of tie-dyed nails.

Materials:
China Glaze (Periwinkle), L.A. Girls (Pink), Essie (turquoise & caicos), NYX (white)

Directions:
1. Put on 2 coats of white nails polish.
2. IMMEDIATELY after take your first color and run it along the side of the bottle so that it doesn't drip color. Then with the tip of the brush quickly dab along the nail. (Doing this while your nail polish is wet will allow colors to blend together as they dry.)
3. Repeat process with additional colors.
4. This is optional but you can add a clear top coat for protection.

Happy Hump Day folks!

DIY INSPIRATION: Colored Blocked Accessories

SOooo, I thought I'd do a DIY Inspiration post. Liya Kebede's pre-fall collection provided me with just the ticket! People all over have been neon color blocking their clutches.

EXHIBIT A:
Why not some scarves and cloth bags? For the scarves, all you will need is a thin white scarf. Take some masking tape to create clean lines and paint away on it with some neon paint.
The same concept can be applied with at cloth or canvas bag. I can't wait for fall!

Send me pics if you give it a go.

ZARA girl

ZARA dress, Ebay bag, shoes, necklace; Urban Outfitters Necklace
photos by my sister-Nikki

Last week I got my very first ZARA dress! I dare say that this won't be my last. I've always admired the label but found it to be often out of my price range. You can imagine that when I walked into the store and saw that they were having a major summer sale, I just couldn't resist. The silk material of this dress makes it seem like I am wearing pajamas out. Double score!

On another note: Today I start my Master Cleanse Diet. I will let you know how it goes. I usually can't make it past 3 days but I will try and last for a little longer this time around. I don't recommend it for everyone but for me I do it once in a while to get my body back to normal and cleanse it from any toxins.

Summer, Summer, Summertime

This last Saturday the family and I went to a pool party/birthday party that was filled with family, great friends, hamburgers and hotdogs, cheesecakes, and homemade drumsticks. Excellent summer weekend! How was yours?
