Summer Essential Lip Care

I don't like to wear lipstick because of the taste and texture it leaves on my lips. Instead, I turn to lip tinters and lip balms to color and moisturize my lips. I've tried almost everything under the sun in search for the perfect one for me. Above are some of the one's I still have from my search. After a long search, I have found my perfect lip balm(s)!!

My top 3 balms are:
1. C.O. Bigelow MENTHA Lip Balm Stick
This is perfect if you like the tingly feeling it leaves on your lips. Plus,
it's infused with real mint that freshens your breath AND it tastes great!! It
tastes likes pillow mints. YUM! What I also love most about this lip balm is
that it is ENTIRELY hides the wax taste!
2. Chapstick Original or CARMEX Original
This is my default lip balms. It's perfect, except for the fact that I can taste
the wax on both.
3. Burt's Bee's Lip Balm in Mango Butter
I recently decided to give Burt's Bee's a try since this tops most people's list.
I have to say I was sold because of the flavors they came in. I got mine in
Mango and it smells and tastes so great! Although, it doesn't completely hide
the waxiness. Burt's Bee's also comes in lip balm tinter forms!

How about you? What tops your lip care list?

Hangin' at the Foothills

zizibeh gaucho pants, vintage tank top, DIY necklace HERE, vintage bag

The boyfriend and I took another visit to a place up in Glendale that his mom has been working towards turning it into a retreat/community center. The grounds are so beautiful and has so much potential. I can't wait to see how the place unfolds!

I came across these amazing gaucho pants to wear on the cooler days of summer. I am not quite sure how to wear them with something other than a tank top yet. Got any suggestions?

DIY: Candy Leis

Being that June is a month of graduations and that I haven't done a DIY post in forever, I thought I'd do a post on how to make a candy lei. They make the perfect gift for your graduate and also makes them look oh-so-fly! Sorry for the blurred pictures, it was the best my camera could do.

Here is what you'll need:

All of your supplies can be bought at a Party City for a cheap. If your are planning on making only one lei going to a party supply is the best because you buy exactly what you need and not in excess.

PREPARATIONS:
1. Cut out several pieces of ribbon at 3".
2. If you bought a roll of cello then cutout a strip (about 3" wide).
OR If you bought the little goody bags, just cut out the bottom and cut it
into two pieces along the folds of the bag.

DIRECTIONS:
1. Figure out the pattern on how you would like the candies to be seen.
2. Take your cello and lay it out on a flat surface and lay the candies on top of it
(horizontally). Lay them out about at 1" apart.

3. Wrap up the candy in cello.

4. Secure them in place but tying pieces of ribbon around the spaces between each
candy.

5. If you have used the cello goody bags like I did, all you have to do is slip one
end into another end and tie them together with some ribbon.
Repeat this process till you make your lei as long as you like.

If you have some extra candy you can even make a little bracelet!

That's all there is to it! Have fun!! Happy Hump Day!

Watermelons

An outfit I wore to church yesterday. I centered it around my turquoise necklace! Click HERE for the DIY I did a while back. I don't know what's going on, but I've been gravitating to colors when dressing. It makes me happy wearing brighter colors. How about you? Are you making any new wardrobe choices?

Nails Goodies

Oh my gosh, my little sister bought me some really cool nail polish the other day and I had to share! I couldn't believe she bought them for a dollar each!

How gorgeous of a color is that yellow nail polish?! It's a mustard yellow, providing a perfect pop of color. Oh and that gold glitter nail polish--WOW! I am not usually a fan of glitter nail polish but this one is just so great because the glitter is cut fine and unevenly like confetti. It looks gorgeous against some black nail polish. It's safe to say that yellow is my color choice of the summer.

Off to watch the miami v. dallas game! You watching?!

Hiding from the Sun

top Tshirt Orgy, Vintage jeans and bag, Ebay boots

This is an outfit I the other day with to a quick lunch with the boyfriend. I know that I've said this once before but I'll say it again, I am IN LOVE with these boots. They are perfect substitution for the Isabel Marant boots I've lusted over for some time now. Oh, and isn't the top I'm wearing cute? I was sold when I saw the back of the blouse. I'm a sucker for simplicity with unique detailing.

Since my trip to D.C., I have wanted nothing more than to stay indoors and away from the sun for a while. (Sorry for the grainy pics. My camera is acting wacky.) haha...I may be part of the few who is dreading the summer weather.

How about you all, you excited for summer? Any exciting plans?

DIY: Can We be Friends?

I am sure that you all have noticed that friendship bracelets are making a full-forced comeback. They easily lend itself to becoming the must-have, wallet-friendly accessory of the summer! Confession: I only came across this awesome arm candy in high school. Since then, it would be a rare occasion you wouldn't see me sporting them on my wrist.

I've seriously become addicted to putting together color combos and learning new patterns. When I discovered their combination with chains and rhinestones, I nearly died! lol. Cue my newest DIY endeaver...

INSPIRATIONS:

What you'll need:

Chain Bracelet, some embroidery string (You can buy a swatch for .35 at Michael's)

DIRECTIONS:
1. Prep 2 pieces of string at about 1 foot each.
2. Wrap the string on the side of the chain.

2. Once you get to the end of the string, pull it underneath the wrapped loops made in step one. This reinforced your work.

Have fun! Pile 'em on!

Bad Blogger

forever 21 blouse, h&m jeans, ebay boots and bag, DIY necklace HERE

For the few that read my little blog here, I wanted to apologize for being M.I.A. So much has gone on during the past month--graduation, moving back home, family vacations, etc. I have lots of pics and projects in mind to show you but I am not quite sure where to start. I should be posting more regularly from here on out. :)
