DIY Revamp: Two-Tone Oxford Shoes

I thought I'd give an old pair of black oxfords a new lease on life by putting a little paint on them!
What you'll Need: Pair of oxfords, flat-head paint brush, gloss enamel paint (any color) painter's tape (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Pick the areas you want to paint (use your painter's tape to create clean lines).
Paint away!
(TIP: I chose a glossy enamel white paint so that when it dries it will match the texture of the shoe and so that it ends up being waterproof.)
Voila! Now you are ready to "t-t-t-tip on the tightrope"!

The Underwear Debate

INSPIRATION:
I was in the mood to give some light layering a try yesterday which resulted in you know...wearing some underwear on top of my clothes--naturally.
Do you think this is a trend that should be circulated? Wearing undergarments on top of your clothes like some of our forefathers? As you can tell, I'm in 100 percent support of this movement. Subconsciously I believe it will give me super powers at the very least! Tell me, I'm dying to know! Photo courtesy (1st Image): Google Images

Happy Friday folks!

Nothing is as it seems.

French Connection top, F21 pants, DIY flats (previous post)
Funny story about this top... My sister and I were out thrifting at Crossroads when I came across this bad boy attracted mostly to the material and the strokes of grey against the yellow. I decided to wear this top to work when my boss told me, "I just realized your shirt has bears on it." Then I said "Oh, wear?...(I look down and discover one looking right at me.) Oh my gosh, look there is it... All over my shirt." So much for attention to detail huh? Truth: Did you see the bears right away? Happy Friday peeps!

DIY: Ballet Flats

Here's another quickie DIY to change up your flats. Put a ribbon on it! I've also been playing with the idea of using some big gold chains instead of the ribbon when I feel like going a bit more high fashion.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED: scissors, flats with a loop (Urban Outfitters) and ribbon
Take your flats and lace a ribbon through the loop.
Now you are ready to dance your way through the day! ;)

A Wandering Woman

I had the great luxury of having a day off on memorial day. We didn't do anything out of the ordinary but I welcomed the rest and relaxation. Hope you all had an equally relaxing weekend if not better! outfit details: F21 top and headpeace, H&M jeans, Stella & Dot arrow necklace, Unknown boots

Shrug It Off

If ever in doubt, jeans are my go to--jean trousers that is. They are the dresser of the jean family. I was heading to church so I also threw on this pretty little shrug I thrifted to dress it up a bit more.
How about you? What's your go to these days?

Monochromatic

Why hello there lovelies!! Even though I've had this blog for quite a while now, I still feel self-conscious doing outfit posts because of the process of having to ask someone and finding a nice location and the right poses. (At the end of it, I'll be lucky if I'll come out of it with at least one picture I'm okay with posting.) I think Instagram as cured this problem because I can now take my own photos and show you my favorite details without too much effort. Follow me @oriogirl. By the way, how crazy cool is my name necklace?!

WednesDIY: Christopher Kane Embellished Shorts

One of the reasons I look forward to Coachella is for the flashback fashions to the 60s, 70s and 80s. A favorite look of mine this year was Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's outfit--composed of Christopher Kane's (for J Brand jeans) embellished shorts and simple white button down with ankle boots. This just made me want to bedazzle everything I own!! While I know I would never be able to afford a pair of those beautifully crafted shorts, I thought DIYing them would give me some peace.
Erica Domesek's DIY HERE had also inspired my decision to do this. Continue reading if you'd like to see the tweaks I've made to my version.
DIRECTIONS:
1. Prep. by taking apart your faux flowers. (You will be using the piece circled red.)
2. Start painting crisscross lines onto the shorts your fabric paint.
3. Take your floral piece and glue them onto shorts diagonally.
4. Bedazzle! (On top of the flowers and in between them.)
5. Lastly, glue down some gold thread around the rhinestones to give it that embroidered look.
Total Cost: $20
What do you folks think? Should the bedazzling be left in the past? photo courtesy: HERE

Celebrity Style Musings

You all know how much I love Kate Bosworth's effortless, chic street style. So, when I found this black dress, I couldn't help recreate one of her looks. I personally like her cut-out dress better. The whole outfit looks better on her. It's such a perfect look for those hot spring days.

DIY: Color Block Rhinestone Bracelet

Another simple DIY I came up to revamp a bracelet I had lying around.  They are pretty self explanatory and I will let the pictures speak for itself.  Happy Friday everyday!  ;)
