DIY: House of Harlow 1960 Necklace

Finally finished my first round of midterms! I really hope I did ok. :/ Anyway, what better way to celebrate then with a new DIY project--House of Harlow 1960 Necklace.

This necklace was inspired by none other than Nicole Richie and Spring line of House of Harlow jewelry. I was already impressed with her first set of pieces, but this second one blew me out of the water. I couldn't get the prints out of my mind. It's very consistent with her design aesthetic, but has a little more spunk to it. Unfortunately, these pieces are out of my price range. So I decided to try making myself something similar. It took a bit of experimenting, but I'm happy with the outcome. It isn't as polished and refined as I would like it to be, but it's ok.

Materials: Duct Tape (any color), earring posts, hot glue gun, acrylic paint

1. Make the form of a diamond with the earring posts.

2. Wrap duct tape around the posts and trim the edges.

3. Take the glue gun and carefully make jagged edges on the duct tape. Then let the glue harden for a few seconds.

4. Paint the zigzag lines any color you want.

Now you have yourself an accessory that adds that cool pop!

DIY: Sky

Well this idea just came to me after spending so much time indoors studying, doing homework and writing papers... lol. I often caught myself looking at my bare walls searching for words to write and often thought that I rather be out and about enjoying the sun before it disappears as it tends to do in the Bay Area. Solution? Making your own sky!!

Materials: Blue Cellophane (Target, Michaels, any craft store), Cotton balls (CVS, Wallgreens for a whole bag), Scissors, Tape

1. Lay out cellophane on the surface you want with tape

2. Strech-out, Fluff cotton balls and clump together for various sizes

3. Then stick it on the cellophane with some tape

TIPS: Try out attaching the clouds to some invisible string and attach to a push-pin to hang from the ceiling to give your clouds more depth!

What do you think? Too childish looking?

It was so unbelievably hot in bay area yesterday! So weird considering that it's not even summer anymore! Regardless, I'm happy to embrace the remnants of summer left behind.

Just a quickie post of what I wore to school yesterday... I've always loved bohemian and native american looks but have never felt I could pull it off. I was feeling particularly courageous yesterday and thought I'd finally give it a try. What do you think? Not me?

P.s. With all of my upcoming papers, I don't know if I'll be able to post as often. So, I apologize in advance. :(
