Star Style Steal: Alba

Try and say that title three times...haha.

Here is an outfit inspired by an outfit I saw Jessica Alba wear with cherry red Doc Martens. It was so unexpected. I never imagined her to be a Doc Marten wearer. But then again, she can pull of anything! There was something so intriguing about the boots, jeans, and floral top combo that was childlike yet tough!

You can bet that cherry red Doc Martens are on my Christmas list this year!

DIY: Torquoise Bead Necklace

The moment I saw this (detail below) necklace on the FreePeople website, I wanted it so bad! Looking over the reviews and the materials it was made with, I realized that perhaps it wasn't worth the $24 I would've been spending. *tear*

After wiping my tear away and dusting myself off, I decided that it was perhaps time for another DIY project! I am happy to say that I am now an owner of a necklace like this!! It would'n't have taken quite as long as it did had I all the material and I shopped around (i.e. Michael's, Ebay) looking for that single, glorious torquoise bead! I spent a total of $10. Success!!

DIY: Clockwork

I got this idea from a piece of jewelry I saw blogger Rumi Neely wearing in a bunch of her outfits. When I saw it, it immediately reminded me of some pieces of a wristwatch I had when my mom took her watch in to tighten by removing a few links. I loved the idea of making a pendant out of a deconstructed watch that I made one myself! It's not exactly like hers, but close enough. I think it's a great way to make use of those useless watch links that end up at the bottom of our jewelry box!

DIY: Striking Gold!

I am so happy to say, FINALLY that I have have finished my metallic clutch I first started working on this past summer. I can't believe I would actually see it finished!

It is fairly simple to make. All that you need:

Handful of small beads

Needle, String

Swatch of Canvas (any color desired)

Swatch of Fabric (to line the inside of the clutch)

Zipper

DIY: Metal Workings P.2

A few posts ago, I shared with you guys my summer DIY project---a metal clutch.

It shouldn't have taken this long to finish it had I all the parts to put this clutch together. When I got home for the summer, I realized that I didn't bring the pedal to my sewing machine! ugh! Therefore, after sewing all of the beads, I had to hold off till I could get my sewing machine to work again. Also, I wanted to take my time with the clutch and find all the parts (i.e. the right inner material, zipper) for cheap. All the while, I have found myself making a few revisions on it... I decided to remove the metal circles on the edge of the bead workings and replace it with some metal squares I removed from an old top I was gonna donate... What you guys think?

Dog days are almost over...

In light of the last days of summer, I was forced to wear something very summer looking. It was unusually hot here in the bay area the past few days...reminding me of last few days of summer left. I didn't actually wear my vintage Doc Marten's with this because the weather didn't call for it. This is what I wanted to wear with the dress had it not been soo HOT! Anyways, I hope you all are enjoying your last days of summer!

DIY: Project Green.

With some IKEA ribbons I had lying around, I decided to give what the designers were doing a try. I wouldn't say it's as good as Gretchen's creation but...What do you guys think?

Is it just me, because every time I watch an episode of Project Runway I get inspired! I just finished watching the third episode, "It's a Party" and for this challenge the designers had to make outfits out of things they could find in a party supply store. I had a bunch of favorites, such as Christopher, Andy, Valerie, and Michael's designs. Aside all of the drama between the designers, Gretchen pulled out another amazing creation. I mean can you believe that faux leather jacket she made?! MY GOSH! Seeing her entire work walking on the runway, I could not help but eye her accessory!
