Hamburgler

Urban Outfitters blazer cardigan, Target Cargo Skinny jeans, Vintage stripped top, Target clogs, LeSportSac shoulder bag

I don't know why but looking at this outfit immediately reminded me of Hamburgler's striped jumpsuit...haha. Over the weekend, the boyfriend and I purchased some pumpkins for our annual pumpkin carving (I'll post pictures up). To make these blah outfit pictures more interesting, I thought I'd include them in the photo. Who would ever think that a pumpkin could make a great fashion accessory? lol.

What are you all doing for Halloween? Anybody dressing up?

Monday Music Shuffle--Oingo Boingo

With Halloween just a week away, I thought I'd pay homage to Oingo Boingo. Danny Elfman, the lead singer of Oingo Boingo, has been the musical mastermind behind some popular Halloween favorites--Beetlesjuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride.

Here is a link to the music video to Oingo Boingo's "Dead Man's Party" that will surely get you into the Halloween spirit!

DIY: House of Harlow 1960 Necklace

Finally finished my first round of midterms! I really hope I did ok. :/ Anyway, what better way to celebrate then with a new DIY project--House of Harlow 1960 Necklace.
This necklace was inspired by none other than Nicole Richie and Spring line of House of Harlow jewelry. I was already impressed with her first set of pieces, but this second one blew me out of the water. I couldn't get the prints out of my mind. It's very consistent with her design aesthetic, but has a little more spunk to it. Unfortunately, these pieces are out of my price range. So I decided to try making myself something similar. It took a bit of experimenting, but I'm happy with the outcome. It isn't as polished and refined as I would like it to be, but it's ok.

Materials: Duct Tape (any color), earring posts, hot glue gun, acrylic paint

1. Make the form of a diamond with the earring posts.
2. Wrap duct tape around the posts and trim the edges.
3. Take the glue gun and carefully make jagged edges on the duct tape. Then let the glue harden for a few seconds.
4. Paint the zigzag lines any color you want.

Now you have yourself an accessory that adds that cool pop!

DIY: Elbow Patches.

I spy a new DIY project! Saw this on Free People's blog. LOVE!!

Once midterms are over, I promise I will post some of the stuff I have been working on...
TGIF!

Alameda Vintage Fashion Faire

A group of my classmates and I headed to the Alameda Vintage Fashion Faire this past weekend. The event was held at an old Navel base, so we were right by the water--which was really cool! You could even see a few commercial ships from afar. As for the fair itself, there was quite a bit to see but I didn't end up getting anything.

I've read in a few articles that it is best to wear some comfortable shoes when going to flea market-esque events that require a lot of walking. So, I couldn't think of a better time to try out my new leopard flats I got at Target for $12.99! Plus, leopard is very in this fall. I think they add that extra jazz to any outfit.

Off I go to study for midterms!

Monday Music Shuffle--Janelle Monae

I discovered Janelle Monae's single, Cold War a couple of months ago and decided to check out her other stuff out. I have been hooked on her music ever since! Each of the songs on her album, Archandroid, are all radically different from one another but together tell a story.

Give her a listen HERE.

breaking into my Fall

Black jeggings, ALDO booties, Mossimo long sleeve (Target), UrbanOutfitters Nave TShirt, Hello kitty necklace, LeSportSac shoulder bag (Ebay)

I am starting to feel Fall creeping into the Bay Area. Here is what I wore the other day. You know me, I couldn't wait to bust out with black and them handful of dark, muted colors that are all the rage this Fall!

Monday Music Shuffle--Mumford&Sons

To beat the drag of Mondays--I've decided to have Monday Music Shuffles where I will be sharing some of my favorite artists of the moment. Plus, we all know that our lives are made better because of music. Email me any of your new music finds and favorite artists of the moment! I am always in need of new music!

I'd like to share with you all, my boyfriend's recent find: Mumford&Sons. Their single, "Little Lion Man" (which I can't get enough of and has been permanently placed on repeat) is all over the radio and some of their other stuff have been used on recent episodes of Grey's Anatomy and My Generation. Mumford&Sons was formed back in December 2007 by four amazingly talented guys from West London. They have this rich folky feel that reminds me of Lisa Hannigan. For more info, check out their website HERE.

'Townie'

The boyfriend and I had a date this last Saturday to take a break from the rigors of school and this is what I wore. If you haven't seen it yet, check out The Town. It's a great movie--refreshing storyline.

I centered my outfit around my new buy from Target. At first, I wasn't too sure about clogs, whether I could pull them off and if it was worth spending for a Jeffrey Campbell pair. But, when I saw and tried on a pair of the clogs at Target--I was hooked. For one, I couldn't resist the price--&19.99 (in store), $24.99 (online). More importantly, they are sooo comfortable! Even though I love heels, I can't walk in them for too long. So, the fact that these shoes were super comfortable is a big deal. I feel like I could run in them. oh yea!

DIY: Sky

Well this idea just came to me after spending so much time indoors studying, doing homework and writing papers... lol. I often caught myself looking at my bare walls searching for words to write and often thought that I rather be out and about enjoying the sun before it disappears as it tends to do in the Bay Area. Solution? Making your own sky!!

Materials: Blue Cellophane (Target, Michaels, any craft store), Cotton balls (CVS, Wallgreens for a whole bag), Scissors, Tape

1. Lay out cellophane on the surface you want with tape
2. Strech-out, Fluff cotton balls and clump together for various sizes
3. Then stick it on the cellophane with some tape

TIPS: Try out attaching the clouds to some invisible string and attach to a push-pin to hang from the ceiling to give your clouds more depth!

What do you think? Too childish looking?
